Since graduating from the Photographic Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1989, Sandy has ventured into numerous realms of the photography industry. Years of experience in film and now in the digital age of photography, brings the unique skills of a well rounded photographer.

A lifelong interest in the culinary arts, combined with many hours of experimentation in the kitchen studio, has afforded Sandy the opportunity to enter the world of food photography. In 2009 her inaugural work hit the shelves of bookstores across Canada. Look for “The Canadian Garden Cookbook”, from Lone Pine Publishing, at a store near you. Following this project, Sandy was offered the chance to work with one of Edmonton’s top chefs - Sonny Sung, head chef at Sorrentino’s Restaurant and owner of Bistecca, an Italian steakhouse. The cookbook they created together will be released in the fall of 2009. With these major projects complete, combined with an extensive portfolio of stock photographs, Sandy has shown she can create a world class food product.

As a school photographer, Sandy has put smiles on the faces of thousands of kids in the Red Deer area over the last ten years, and more recently into her expanding market in the City of Edmonton. Sandy’s extensive background in Figure Skating and Martial Arts, plus more recently, an involvement in the sport of skydiving, is a tremendous asset that allows her to showcase the grace and power of sports on film. She has superb timing and an uncanny ability to capture the perfect shot. Ten years as a competitive figure skater, combined with a passion for modern dance gives her a creative edge when working with dancers. She has worked extensively with dance schools and has the warmth and charisma to make even the shyest child comfortable, as well as the knowledge and awareness to pose her subjects perfectly with no need for the instructor to be involved. The aesthetic and artistic quality of her work in dance and action photography is truly second to none.

Not ony is she passionate about animals, she also has the unique knowlege of animal behaviour, having worked as a professional dog groomer and veterinary assistant for a period of her life. She has also has shown dogs in competition, so especially understands specific dog breeds and their traits. She has an uncanny ability of finding animals personalities and capturing them on camera!
